Donald Elwood Foltz, 72, of Fort Valley, Virginia, took his last breath on this earth September 20, 2021 in the comfort of his home after valiantly battling cancer. He advanced out of the arms of his loving family and into the waiting arms of his heavenly Father. Now dwelling forever with no more pain and no more imagining of what is to come; he abides in an eternal place of peace and comfort. Walking transformed, while savoring the Son, forever worshiping, singing hallelujah and basking in the glory of the King. Born October 31, 1948, in Arlington, VA, he was the son of the late Elwood and Lena (Alice) Foltz. He was the loving husband of 46 years to Pamela Foltz, whom he married April 12, 1975. He was an example to many of a Christ centered marriage and a husband who loved his wife well. Don’s proudest accomplishments in life are the cherished family he leaves behind. His legacy grows on and thrives as he is survived by his children, Alan Foltz and wife Jodie of Maurertown, VA, Lewie Foltz and wife Valerie of Gunnison, CO, Jamie Foltz-Baker and husband Chris of Edinburg, VA, Erin Clark and husband Travis of Luray, VA and Tara Foltz-Gearhart of Fleming Island, FL as well as his siblings, Ronald Foltz and wife Nancy of Gainesville, VA and Linda Russell and husband Sheldon of Valley Lee, MD as well as his 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Don attended George Mason High School in Falls Church, VA and graduated from Fairfax High School, class of 1967. Don faithfully served in the Army National Guard of Virginia and as a Reserve of the Army from 1968-1974. Remaining in Northern Virginia, he moved to Sterling, VA in 1975 to begin a fresh start with the love of his life, Pam. Though starting his family in Sterling, his love for the outdoors and simplicity compelled him to move to Fort Valley, Virginia in 1981. God’s magnificent creation of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley became a refuge in which to raise his family on fresh mountain air, hunting and fishing, camping, good values and a sense of adventure. Small town mountain life offered him significance and credence to values such as faith in the Lord, love of family and commitment to community. Don’s life priorities were wholly centered around his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his commitment to leading and loving his family well. Over the years, Don served in many capacities at White Chapel United Methodist Church in Fort Valley, VA. His involvement included serving and volunteering on various church leadership teams, preaching, teaching Sunday School, service and community projects, caring for those in need, and singing on the musical worship team. Don’s involvement in ministry over the years has impacted eternity and its multitude. “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness”’ Matthew 25:23 Known for his unassuming humility, wisdom, kindness, empathy, grace and forgiveness, quiet confidence and strength, hard-working spirit, loyalty and sense of humor, Don leaves a lasting positive legacy with all who were fortunate to know him. He will be missed but always remembered and cherished. “Though your words were never more than necessary, your example was enough. Rest easy with the Lord, Pops; we will see you again soon.” “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” II Cor. 4:17-18 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send any willing donations to the Fort Valley Ruritan Club so that they can continue to help others in need.
