The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Betty Lee Dellinger. Betty Lee Dellinger, 89, of Hamburg, VA went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 26th, 2023. There are no words to be written that would ever capture the essence of this special lady or the impact of her departure. She was a treasure and blessing to her family and friends and her memory will be forever cherished. She will be remembered as an amazing cook, fantastic gardener and canner, and she could sew anything! She loved the holidays and making them special for her family by sharing annual traditions like making peanut butter balls together. Those traditions carried over to the community when she would bring those treats and cookies to church events. She was always in the know of current, local events and had a memory like a steel trap! She knew names, faces, birthdays, anniversaries, and who was related to who. She could recount memories from years past with complete ease. She was a devoted Christian who religiously read her bible every day and, in her younger years, never missed a Sunday at Bethel. After church on Sundays, her family gathered for a big home cooked meal often with fried chicken, brown gravy, and her famous half orange-half lemonade Kool-Aid. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlie Mae and Elmer Ray Hottle; three brothers, Herman, Richard, and Carroll Hottle; and devoted husband of 54 years, Kirby Dellinger, Sr. She is survived by three sisters, Anna Mae Smoot, Helen Will (Jack), and Maxine Wilt; as well as three children, Kirby Dellinger, Jr. and wife, Donna of Edinburg, VA, Pamela Delawder and husband, James of Basye, VA, and Dwayne Dellinger and wife, Julie of Mt. Jackson, VA. Also surviving her are 7 grandchildren; Amanda Dellinger, Crystal Sibert and husband, Chris, Adam Delawder and wife, Rebecca, Ashlyn Dellinger, Cindy Ouimette and husband, Sean, Holly Helman, and Heather Lasko, and husband Keith; as well as 8 great grandchildren, Jonathan, Levi, Winter, Adalynn, Ryder, Nicolas, Peyton, and Jayde. The family will receive friends beginning at 10am on Monday, Dec. 4 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, VA. A funeral service will follow at 11am officiated by Pastor Katie Gosswein. Burial will follow in the church cemetery and a fellowship meal will be held in the social hall.
