With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty Lou Wilkins Walker, who left us on September 4, 2025, at the age of 83. Betty was a woman whose life embodied warmth, love, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She was the matriarch of our family, and her passing leaves a deep void, but her legacy will forever be etched in our hearts. Born on June 28, 1942, in Edinburg, Virginia, Betty was the daughter of the late William J. and Evelyn Miller Wilkins. A proud graduate of Central High School in Woodstock, Virginia, she later attended Strayer Business College in Winchester, where she laid the foundation for her successful administrative career. She spent many fulfilling years working at The George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia, where she cherished being part of a close-knit community. In 1962, Betty married Lindale Edward Walker, and together they shared a beautiful life. Their marriage was one of deep affection, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion, lasting for more than five decades until Lindale’s passing. Betty was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, Virginia, where she found both friendship, spiritual peace and a sense of worship. However, Betty’s greatest joy came from her family. She was a loving mother to her son, Craig Walker (Renata), and daughter, Tracey Walker (Kate). Betty’s heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren, Sidney (Anthony), Alexis, Miranda, Samantha, Shannon and Aslan. She took immense joy in every moment spent with them, whether offering a piece of wisdom, sharing laughter, or simply being present for them. Betty was also a devoted sister to Wilma Matthews (Larry) and Carol Bashaw (Steve), and she held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lindale, and her brothers, Larry and Albert Wilkins. A family memorial celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Heishman Funeral Home/Valley Funeral Services formerly Dellinger Funeral Homes at 159 North Main Street Woodstock, Virginia. Pastor Katie Gosswein will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) at dav.org, an organization that Betty deeply supported and held in high regard. Though Betty is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the lessons she imparted, the love she shared, and the countless memories she created with all who knew her. Her strength, kindness, and boundless love will continue to inspire us all. Betty Lou Wilkins Walker was a mother, grandmother, and friend like no other—her love knew no bounds, and her heart was open to all. She will be deeply missed, but forever cherished in our hearts. May she rest in peace, reunited with her husband, and watching over her family with the same love and care she always gave.
