Daryl Lynn Coffelt, 75, of Edinburg, Virginia, passed away on February 26, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 4, 1950, in Edinburg, he was the son of the late Melvin Coffelt and Lena Shadwell Coffelt, both of whom he loved dearly. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: brothers Lowell Coffelt and Berlin Coffelt, and sister Eldena Scanlon. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rhoda Coffelt. Daryl was a devoted husband to Rhoda, always taking the very best care of her. Together, they raised a beautiful family and created a home filled with strength, humor, and countless memories. He is also survived by his children: Penny Herald-Jett (Timmy), Daryl Coffelt (Penny), and Crystal Coffelt (Gary). Daryl was a proud grandfather to: Jessie Herald (Harley), Brittney Irvin (Nathan), Samantha Stroop (Kaleb), William Clark, Misty Clark, Tiffany Frazier (Codie), Cheyenne Coffelt (Brendan), and Bruce Coffelt. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren. For 40 years, Daryl was a dedicated truck driver for Rocco and George's, building a reputation for dependability, hard work, and an exceptional knowledge of the roads. He was the person coworkers turned to for directions. He always knew the best route, the quickest turn, and how to get anyone exactly where they needed to go. Daryl had a deep passion for tractors, especially his antique Oliver tractor, which he took great pride in. Daryl was known for his outspoken nature and honest spirit. He never hesitated to tell his family exactly what he thought, sometimes with a bit of gruffness, but always with love at the center of it. His mix of grumpy charm, humor, and heartfelt loyalty kept his family grounded, guided, and laughing. He made sure the people he loved always knew where he stood, and his straightforward wisdom will be deeply missed. Above all, Daryl was the steady foundation of his family: strong, dependable, and full of wisdom. He worked hard, provided without complaint, and filled his loved ones’ lives with warmth, humor, and the kind of storytelling that only he could deliver. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, whose legacy of love and strength will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.
