Donald Estep Foltz

Donald Estep Foltz, 74, of Edinburg, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Reverend Thomas Perry and Randall Crisman will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Hamburg. Mr. Foltz was born August 8, 1940 in Hamburg, son of the late James Ray Foltz Sr. and Alice Flota Estep Foltz. He attended Edinburg High School with the class of 1958 and graduated from Massanutten Military Academy in 1959. He followed in his father's footsteps working at Foltz's Cash Store and Foltz's Filling and Grocery (now H&R Grocery). In 1976 he became Co-Proprietor of Foltz's Auto Sales and then later owner of Bowman's Crossing Self-Storage. He was a sales associate for Helmuth Builders in Dayton. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Skyline Street Rods, and the Scooter Club. In 1978 he became a Board Member of Shenandoah Mutual and served on numerous committees. He was known as the ""Mayor of Bowman's Crossing"". He is survived by his wife Evelyn M. Heishman Foltz whom he married on September 11, 1960; son, Donn Lee Foltz and his companion Melissa Hoover of Woodstock; daughter, Donna M. Spaur and husband Mike of Edinburg; two brothers, James Ray(JR) Foltz Jr. (dec'd) and his wife Sue of Richmond and Randolph Haines Foltz and his wife Jayne of Bowman's Crossing; four grandchildren, Ashley Foltz Bond and husband Tye, Kayla Spaur, Katelyn Foltz and Michael Spaur; two great grandchildren, Lilly Bond and Emma Grace Bond; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Irene Downey and husband Jack (dec'd), Nancy Showman and husband John L., Anna Funkhouser and husband Harry (dec'd), Alfred Heishman Jr. and wife Genevieve and Richard Heishman and wife Charlotte. He is also survived by his second daughter, Judy Funkhouser; caregivers Carolyn and Jim Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Richard Heishman, Alfred Heishman Jr., Kevin Showman, Jerry Baker, Kevin Foltz, Steve Olinger, Ron Stead and Robert (Porky) Bowman. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Crider, Carl Bright Jr., Alton ""Booty"" Dinges, Burdette Foltz, Robbie Pence, Calvin ""Butch"" Hosaflook and Cletus ""Handyman"" Edmonds. The Scooter Club will attend as a group. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's UCC, C/o Alfred Heishman, 1665 Stoneburner Road, Edinburg, VA 22824; Mt. Jackson Rescue and Fire Department, P.O. Box 251, Mt. Donnie loved spending time with his grandchildren, his license plates, times under the trees, riding his scooter, going to Hardees and spending time around the campfire. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
