Dorothy Grim Bean

The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Dorothy Grim Bean. It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Grim Bean, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, special aunt and friend. Dorothy (age 92) was born February 24, 1930 and passed into the arms of our Savior on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Sentara RMH in Harrisonburg, VA. On November 13, 1952, she married the late James Buchannon Grim, Jr. and on September 2, 1981, she married the late Lorenzo “Sonny” Bean. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her son, James Michael Grim of Mount Jackson, two granddaughters; Jennifer Grim Baker (Robert) of Mount Jackson, VA, and Kimberly Grim of Weyers Cave, VA; two grandsons, Wesley Dellinger (Rhonda) of Edinburg, VA, Joseph Grim of TN; son-in-law, Charles Dellinger of Edinburg, VA; two half sisters-in-law, Candace Bean Locke of Woodstock and Karen Bean Costi of Mount Jackson; one half brother-in-law Dale Bean of Edinburg; seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two special friends Roberta Johnson and Kathy Gangwer both of Mount Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Fredrick W. and Maud Simmons Stroop of Forestville, VA; one daughter, Cynthia Grim Dellinger, seven siblings, Francis M. Keister, Mamie R. Stroop, Freeman W. Stroop, Mildred G. Sherman, Sidney R. Stroop, Donald F. Stroop, Georgie N. Hamilton and C. Eugene “Gene” Stroop. Dorothy’s love and commitment to her family and friends was unsurpassed. She loved flowers, birds and playing bingo. In addition to being a great cook and homemaker, she held several jobs and owned and operated Grim’s Furniture Store before retiring. Dorothy was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Mount Jackson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 14116 South Middle Road, Edinburg, VA. Dorothy’s funeral service will be held at Valley Funeral Home Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Matthew A. Diehl. Interment will follow in the Mount Jackson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rob Lankard, Sean Lankard, Robert Baker, Christian Dellinger, Rit Reeves, Tyler Grim, and Brandon Myers.
