The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Evelyn Marie Heishman Foltz. Evelyn Marie Heishman Foltz, 82, of Edinburg, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022, to be with her husband, Donald on his birthday surrounded by family at the Life Care Center in New Market. The funeral will be held Saturday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s UCC in Hamburg. Pastors Stephanie Heishman Litten and Randall Crisman will officiate. Graveside burial and luncheon will follow the service. Evelyn was born June 14, 1940, in Hamburg, daughter of the late Alfred R. Heishman Sr. and Margaret Virginia Dellinger Heishman. She was a 1958 graduate of Edinburg High School and retired in 2007 as a cafeteria worker in Shenandoah County Public Schools. She was a former secretary for Foltz Inc., and past owner of Foltz’s Auto Sales and Bowman’s Crossing Storage Units. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where she was a former Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and past president of Lay, Life and Work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Estep Foltz who she married on September 11, 1960. She is survived by her son, Donn Lee Foltz and his wife Melissa of Woodstock; daughter, Donna M. Spaur and husband Mike of Edinburg; four grandchildren, Ashley Foltz Bond and husband Tye, Kayla Spaur (Corey Chestnut), Katelyn Foltz and Michael Spaur (Ameila Hess); two great grandchildren, Lilly Bond and Emma Grace Bond; sisters and brothers, Irene Downey and husband Jack (dec’d), Nancy Showman and husband John L.(dec'd), Anna Funkhouser (dec'd) and husband Harry (dec’d), Alfred Heishman Jr. and wife Genevieve, and Richard Heishman and wife Charlotte; brother-in-law Randolph Foltz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her honorary daughters, Judy Funkhouser (Andrew) and Mampe Ponack (Brad); and special buddies Eli Ponack and Karter Hoover. Evelyn also leaves behind wonderful caregivers who loved her as her own: Carolyn Fisher (Jim), Sandy Ortts (Danny), Sandy Estep (Ricky), and Theresa Downey (Boot). Evelyn, known by many as Mimi, Sally Crack, Lucy and Peepee always put Church first and foremost. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones and was quite the social butterfly. She loved game shows, crossword puzzles, bingo, ice cream and listening to hymns. Pallbearers will be Allen Gochenour, Bruce Smith, Bryan Mauck, Frankie Mauck, Rob Pence and Ron Stead. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Gochenour, Porky Bowman, Brandon Lamma and her nephews. Her family wishes to honor her classmates of Edinburg High School class of 1958 by having them sit as group. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg.
