Jessica ""Jess"" Anne-Lopez WineKing transitioned into her spiritual body on March 11, 2023. She possessed a smile as wide and beautiful as the New Mexico sky under which she was born on April 2nd, 1977. She was the lovely, creative, and brilliant daughter of Thomas King and Ruth Lopez, and stepdaughter of Debra King and Brian Atkins, the sister of Rex King (Kristina), and stepsister to Seth (Kerstin) Emerson, Susanna Ryan (Dave), Casey Atkins, and Jesse Atkins (Sharihan Aziz). She was also the loving, nurturing mother of Joseph ""Joe"" WineKing. She was a graduate with the highest of distinction from these educational institutions: Hayfield High School, James Madison University, and in 2019 she earned her Master's Degree from Liberty University. She spent the majority of her early years in New Mexico, she wanted everyone to be reminded that it is not a part of Mexico, having become the 47th state in 1912! She lived in Lima, Peru, Juarez, Mexico, and ultimately came to Virginia where she met her best friend, life partner, and wife of 27 years, An WineKing. Her various careers of service primarily centered on serving the Community of Woodstock, in which she lived. She worked for Shentel Communications, Judd's Online, Kotkin Chiropractic, Shenandoah Animal Hospital, Cheff Chiropractic, and lastly at Shenandoah Department of Social Services. She created WineKing Enterprises in 2006, which launched several small businesses including Handy An. She was a foster parent with An for 9 years and was blessed to adopt their son Joey in 2012. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the summer of 2015. She fought the disease with every other healthy cell and fiber in her body. She never allowed cancer to steal from her, but instead took it as a way to embrace each new day with a heart of full of love, joy, and gratitude. She bravely shared her story with family and friends openly and transformed herself into a superhero with her mantra being ""Warrior On"". She fought the fight with the indomitable fierce strength of a true warrior up to her last breath. Her spirit never succumbed to the disease, only her earthy vessel. Her journey inspired countless lives and we would invite you to participate in remembering and honoring this amazing woman. She would also want me to recognize every health care individual who assisted her on the front lines of her war against this disease, especially Dr. Susan Modesitt and Dr. Kari Ring. These two phenomenal women will forever have a special place in our family's heart. The family would also like to recognize all the wonderful and compassionate individuals of Winchester Hospice, and her Care 3 Team. On Friday, March 17th, the family will receive friends and family from 6-8pm at Dellinger Funeral Home located in Woodstock, VA. The graveside service will be held at Sunset View Memorial Gardens on Saturday, the 18th, and will be for family members only. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 2nd, which would have been her 46th birthday, at Virginia Hills Church in Front Royal from 3-6pm.
