Joseph Benjamin Holland

Joseph Benjamin Holland, 26, of Strasburg, went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2017. Joseph was a much-loved son, brother, father, and friend. He was born on April 18, 1991, in Virginia Beach, to his parents, Steve and Heidi Anne Holland. He grew up playing sports and was an avid Redskins fan. He faithfully attended church, and loved being with his 8 brothers and sisters. Every summer he loved going to Camp Paddy Run for a week of camp. He learned to play the piano and loved to sing. He attended Central High School where he excelled in history, and earned his high school diploma in June 2009. His son, Isaiah, was born in 2010 and brought Joe great joy. He loved to spend time with Isaiah, who was the light of his life. In April 2015, Joe graduated from the Shenandoah Valley Teen Challenge program and then served as an intern for several months. While with Teen Challenge, Joe demonstrated his faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. As SVTC choir director, he took the choir to local churches to share about their ministry. In November 2017, Joe married Jaclyn Wittig. As a person, Joe was a friend to everyone. He was bright, confident, and personable; passionate about life and the people he shared it with, and he never knew a stranger. He deeply loved his family, and he will be greatly missed. Joe is survived by his son Isaiah; his wife Jaclyn and her daughter Emma; his father Steve Holland and wife Rhonda; his mother Heidi Anne Holland; his brother Andrew Holland and wife Angela and their children Rachel, Isaac, Ryan, and Ethan; his sister Heather Hoover and husband Brian and their sons Dylan, Corbin, Blake, and Tate; his brother David and wife Beka; his brother Matthew and wife Danai and their children Wyatt and Natalie; his brother Jonathan; his sister Rose; his brother Jason, and his brother Micah. He is also survived by his grandmother, Sheila Whitcomb; his aunts Karen Probus and husband Michael, Julie Puckett, and Ellen Nicholson and husband Steve; his uncle Rev. Richard C. Whitcomb and wife Donna; and eighteen cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents Bruce and Lois Holland, his grandfather Rev. Richard A. Whitcomb, and his uncle James Puckett. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Woodstock, VA. Visitation with family and friends will begin an hour before the service. The interment will be at Massanutten Cemetery in Woodstock. Viewing is available at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday, December 29 from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday, December 30 from 9am to noon.
