The staff of Heishman Funeral Home/Valley Funeral Service sends condolences to the family of Kenneth Earl Watkins. Kenneth Earl Watkins, 88, of Edinburg, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026. A graveside service will be held Tuesday June 23, 2026, at 10:00am at Scott-Foster Cemetery. Pastor Chad Estep will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday June 22 from 6-8 at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg, VA. Kenneth was born on October 15, 1937, in East Point, Kentucky, son of the late Samuel Earl and Maggie Snavely Watkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva (Judy) Jewel Hackworth Watkins. He is survived by his children, Kenneth Ray Watkins and ex-wife, Pamela Watkins, David Randall Watkins and wife, Trina, Tamara Lucille (Watkins) Foster and husband, Scott; siblings, Peggy Pollard, Jesse Ray Watkins and wife, Debra; grandchildren, Ray Edward Watkins and wife, Chrisshaunna, Kenneth Kalen Watkins and wife, Candacee, David Travis Watkins and wife, Dorothy, Reese Wiley Foster, Sheridan Grace Foster, Jasper Kenley Foster; and great grandchildren, Mercy Grace Wright, Kalen Gabriel Watkins, Kaden Mark Watkins, and Henry Abel Ray Watkins. Kenneth lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and a genuine love for others. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked as a purchasing agent for a coal mining company in Kentucky. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to own and operate his own clothing store, where he enjoyed serving his community and building lasting relationships. He eventually moved to California, where he completed his professional career working at the Marine Corps Base before retiring. A man of deep and abiding faith, Kenneth was a longtime member of Valley Baptist Church. He faithfully served for many years in the church’s jail ministry, sharing the Gospel and offering encouragement to those in need. Kenneth loved telling others about his Savior and never missed an opportunity to share his faith and the hope he found in Jesus Christ. Kenneth was known for his wonderful sense of humor, kind heart, and friendly nature. He enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and meeting new people along the way. His warmth, generosity, and ability to make others smile left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Above all, Kenneth will be remembered as a devoted Christian, proud veteran, hardworking provider, and faithful friend. His life was a testimony to his love for God and his love for people. He touched countless lives through his faith, service, encouragement, and friendship. Kenneth will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church family, and all who were blessed to know him. Though his presence will be greatly missed, those who loved him find comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, whom he faithfully served throughout his life.
