Richard (Dick) Landon Sine Sr

The staff of Heishman Funeral Home/Valley Funeral Service sends condolences to the family of Mr. Richard (Dick) Landon Sine Sr. Richard (Dick) Landon Sine Sr was born on August 27, 1936, in Columbia Furnace, Va to the late Dillmon M. Sine Jr and Ethel M. Johnson Sine. He was married to his loving and devoted wife, Audrey Lee Mauck Sine for 62 years. Together they raised two sons Richard Landon Sine Jr. and Timothy Allen Sine. He was preceded in death by Marshall Sine, Geneva Helsley, Ford Sine, William Sine, Rachel Reedy, Fern Riggleman, Faye Shipe, Dorothy Mumaw, Cletus Sine, Paul Sine, Pauline Sine, and Dewey Sine. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; sons Richard with wife Amy and Timothy and his wife Egenia. Also, 6 grandsons, 1 great grandson and 4 great granddaughters. He is also survived by sisters Peggy Grove and Roxie Eastep. At a very young age, his mother passed. He was raised in Ridge Hollow by his brothers and sisters. During one of his many adventures on 3 Mile Mountain he came across 2 beautiful kittens. He managed to catch one of them and take it home to show his mother. Upon arrival his mother discovered it was not a house cat but a bobcat kitten and ordered him to return it to where he found it. Dick met the love of his life in the summer of 1963, while living with his sister Peggy. In the beginning their romance was limited to meeting after dark and talking across the fence. By fall the fence was no longer an obstacle. On October 3, 1963, with the help of his sisters Peggy and Roxie, they eloped to Hagerstown, Maryland and started their new adventure at 16649 Valley Pike, Edinburg, Va. Adventure came soon; Audrey became pregnant with their first son Richard Jr and Timothy Allen came soon after. The next adventure was buying a home. For the next 57 years Rt 1, Box 244 Edinburg (now 780 Back Road) would be the home where he raised his family with a loving heart and firm hand. Dick started out working for Blue Ridge Poultry in Edinburg and soon moved to Aileen Inc, Edinburg, starting in 1964. He was employed there until his retirement. One of the great joys of his life were his 6 grandsons and they were an adventure all by themselves. Joshua David, Jeremiah Job, Jared Tyler, Caleb Andrew, Mason Andrew, and Matthew Lee, loved there “Pop Pop” deeply and loved when he told stories of his childhood. The other gift he gave them all was a love for the outdoors. When his great grandchildren were born his pride for his family grew greater. He finally had girls in the family and the smile on his face said it all. Kyleigh Nicole, Arabella Anne, Elliana James and Juniper Emerson, were a joy for all of us. However, the boys were not done, his newest grandchild is Hudson Allen. Dick loved his family, but that caring did not stop with us. There are nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends Dick cherished and will miss him greatly. Dick was a man of few words and high expectations. He let his actions define him in all walks of his life, work, home, and community. Family night will be Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Valley Funeral Service, 14116 South Middle Road, Edinburg, Va. Services will be at Columbia Furnace at 1 pm on January 14.
