Shirley Jane (Miller) Blozzon

The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Shirley Jane (Miller) Blozzon. Shirley Jane (Miller) Blozzon, 89, formerly of Harrisonburg, VA and now residing in Woodstock, VA, went to be with the Lord in her home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born September 4, 1934, in Keezletown, VA at the Miller Homestead and graduated from Harrisonburg High School. She was the youngest daughter of the late Charles J. Miller and Louise (Bilhimer) Miller. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Fifer and husband George; two daughters, Judy B. Schwarz and Nancy Bowers and husband George; four grandchildren, Brandon Ashworth, Meghan Howard and husband Jonathan, Allen Bowers and wife Ashley, and Mary Forbes and husband Scotty; eight great grandchildren, Annabelle and Yagia Ashworth, Noah, Ellie, and Luke Howard, and Grace, Faith, and Trey Bowers; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, George (Buddy) E. Miller; three sisters, Margaret Greenwood, Helen Miller and husband Basil, and Frances Burkholder and husband Lloyd; one son, John Alan Blozzon; and son-in-law, John George Schwarz. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed watching the younger ones as they grew. Shirley loved God, her family, her country, music, reading and editing her son-in-law’s books, watching football, and flower gardening. She enjoyed God’s creation and spent much of her years landscaping wherever she was living and designing her yards with amazing colors and textures. She was a member of the Garden Club at Belmont Estates. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church as a child and Derby United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She later attended West Side Baptist Church and more recently Antioch Covenant Brethren Church through livestream. A special thank-you to Meghan Howard, Kim Hoover, Debby Rimel, Dr. Gregory Byrd, and her team of caregivers from Blue Ridge Hospice who lovingly cared for her throughout her journey. A celebration of life will be held at Antioch Covenant Brethren Church led by her son-in-law, Pastor George Bowers on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00am. The family will receive guests one hour before the service. The burial will take place at 3:00pm at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg, VA.
