The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Tommy Lewis Helsley. Tommy Lewis Helsley, 88, of Woodstock, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2023, surrounded by his family. Tommy was born on March 24, 1935, in Woodstock to the late Reverend Lawrence and Vernie Barton Helsley. He was a lifelong member of Community Mission Church of the Brethren where he served as Superintendent, Deacon, Bell Ringer and most importantly the “Coffee Maker”. Tommy was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Fadeley Helsley; five brothers, Herbert, Charles, Ira, John and Herman; four sisters, Virginia Day, Letha Dellinger, Lucinda Mauck and Gerlene Lutz. He is survived by four children, Loretta Lutz (Mitch) of Edinburg, Randy Helsley (Kelly) of Edinburg, Steve Helsley (Leslie) of Woodstock and Sandra Kibler (Rob) of Woodstock; one brother, Lawrence Helsley Jr. and one sister, Helen Reedy; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Community Mission Church of the Brethren. Pastors Dale Bowers and Fred Mauck will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be Adam Lutz, Travis Lutz, Jeremy Kibler, Brad Kibler, Josh Helsley (Susan) and Shawn Kibler. Honorary pallbearers will be Olivia Helsley, Tara Rohde (Jason), Becky Helsley (Derek), Beth McNair (Scott), Crystal Wingfield (Ed), Jennifer Lutz, Liza Lutz, Heather Kibler, Amanda Kibler and Michelle Kibler. Tommy’s companion since the passing of his beloved wife Shirley was his little dog Lexi. Tommy was also known as Dad, Pops, PawPaw, Snouser and known to many others due his constant picking as “Pain in the Butt”. He cherished his Family, Church Family, vacations, eating out, playing cards, his breakfast buddies, scenic rides where you could always find him in the passenger seat, hot dogs, pigs feet, but above all his Lord and Savior. He was a lifelong carpenter and all of his structures are still standing (as far as we know). The family would like to thank Brianna Kibler for moving in and staying with Dad/PawPaw for the past several months.
