The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Bernice E. Williams. Bernice E. Williams, 98, passed to eternal rest on April 16, 2022. Bernice had been a resident of Skyline Terrace Nursing Home since 2005. She was formerly a resident of Edinburg and Woodstock, Virginia. Bernice is the daughter of the late John Edwin and Nora Blanche Smith of Fauquier County, Virginia. Bernice leaves behind her son Tommie, daughter Carol Jean, eight grandchildren, and three siblings: Joyce Hollar of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Wilbur Lee Smith (Diana) of Warrenton, Virginia; and Alvin Smith (Barbara) of Denton, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her husband John L. Williams, son Roy Williams, daughter Vicky Ritchie, and sister Margaret Smith. Bernice retired from the Shenandoah Public School System in 2009 at age 85 after serving as a bus driver for 48 years. She was a devout member of First Baptist Church in Woodstock since 1961. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 116 Lakeview Drive, Woodstock, VA 22664.
