Cynthia Irene (Cindy) Burner, 56, of Woodstock, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Winchester Medical Center. A private family service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren. Pastors Mark Bowyer and PG Coverstone will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may also sign the guest book on Thursday from 9-5 at the funeral home. Mrs. Burner was born April 14, 1964 in Woodstock, daughter of Benjamin Crisman of Edinburg and Dorothy and Paul Racey of Edinburg. She was a 1982 graduate of Central High School and Triplett Tech. She formerly worked at Valley Lunch, Massanutten Military Academy, Fulton Trucking, Winchester Medical Center and for 27 years at Shenandoah County Department of Social Services. She was a member of Wakeman’s Grove Church where she was a former board member, served on various committees, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Advisor. She loved music and was a member of the A Capella Bella and Adult Choir. Surviving, along with her parents, are her husband, Phillip G. Burner; son, Isaac T. Burner of Woodstock; brothers, B.J. Crisman (Jenny) of Edinburg, Pat Racey (Chris) of Luray; sister, Jackie Crisman of Edinburg and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale L. Racey. Pallbearers will be Rick Roberts, Stuart Didawick, Weldon Funkhouser, Nathaniel Dirting, Keith Zirkle and Marty Helsley. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 420 Neff Avenue, Suite 210 Harrisonburg, VA 22801 or Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 668 Wakeman’s Grove Road, Edinburg, VA 22824. Cindy was always incredibly positive and had an infectious smile. She loved being with people and was devoted to her church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
