Ernie Raymond Baber

Ernie Raymond Baber of Edinburg, Virginia, passed away on Monday, December 6th, at the home of his sister, surrounded by his loving family. Ernie fought a long and valiant fight against cancer for 18 months. Ernie was born to Ernie Lorenza and Mary Ann Beeson Baber on January 25th, 1959, in Woodstock, Virginia. He graduated from Central High School and Triplett Tech in 1977. He was an extremely hardworking individual, beginning work at the age of 12 in his father’s service station. He worked for Aileen followed by 35 years at IAC in Strasburg where he had a large and faithful work family whom he treasured. He could fix and repair almost anything and loved sharing his abilities to help others. He was a member of Saumsville Christian Church where he enjoyed his time spent with the ladies of the church CWF preparing meals for shut-ins and other dinners. Often appearing hard and brisk on the outside, he had a heart full of gold and serving God and others was his special gift. Ernie is survived by his faithful dog, Rusty, who he loved endlessly; his siblings, Ann Lloyd and the Lloyd/Ashby family, Sandi Crowe and family, Marvin Baber and family, Donald Baber and family, David Boehm and family; his children, Sara Crawford and family and Chris Baber and family; and his former wives, Doris Tevalt and Melissa Fadeley, who remained dear friends and also his lifelong best friend, Jim Kibler. His sister, Dorothy Boehm, predeceased him along with his parents. A memorial service conducted by Pastor Joe Fleming will be held Saturday, December 18th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Saumsville Christian Church, 2035 Saumsville Road, Maurertown, VA 22644. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Saumsville CWF, % Marie Feller, 2108 Saumsville Road, Maurertown, VA 22644 or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601, who provided kind and compassionate care during his long illness.
