John Calvin Wealthy Jr.

The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of John Calvin Wealthy Jr. John Calvin Wealthy Jr., 92, of Alexandria, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Mt. Jackson Cemetery. Pastor Glen Early will officiate. Mr. Wealthy was born February 27, 1929, in Woodstock, VA, son of the late John Calvin Wealthy Sr. and Mary Dodson Wealthy. He retired from Airway Sheet Metal and was a member of the American Legion in Woodstock. Mr. Wealthy served in the Army from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War in Okinawa. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fred, Raymond, Clayton, Calvin, Guy, Ray, Mary Belle Romick, and Pearl Clem. He is survived by his children, Barbara Berry and husband, Dave of New Market, John Wealthy III of Alexandria, and Mark Wealthy of Mt. Jackson. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tommy Hawkins Jr. and wife Kim, Michael Hawkins, and Kimberly Wealthy; great grandchildren, Ryan Hawkins, Jordan Hawkins, Hayden Hawkins, and Holden Lane Gilman; as well as his five furry cat companions. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Valley Funeral Chapel in Edinburg. As John loved animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, 268 Landfill Rd. Edinburg, VA 22824.
