Lawrence Walter “Buck” Eye, 85, of Edinburg, passed away Wednesday, December 15 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. A service will be held Tuesday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg. Reverend Terry Hendricks will officiate. Burial, with military honors by Woodstock American Legion Post #199 will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock. Mr. Eye was born August 28, 1936, in Strasburg, son of the late Lionel Lee Eye and Lottie Walters Eye. He was a 1953 graduate of Strasburg High School and received an associate degree from Lord Fairfax. He served as a corpsman in the US Navy and Marine Corps. He formerly worked at the Strasburg Theater and as a manager at Safeway in Washington, DC. He owned/managed the Southern Lodge Restaurant in Woodstock prior to establishing Allegheny Realty where he was a broker and appraiser. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and on the church council. He was a member of Woodstock American Legion Post #199, Hunter Lodge #135 in Edinburg, Kena Shriners in Manassas and Woodstock Moose Lodge #575. Buck was a loving family man and a wonderful friend to many. He loved the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and the people that lived here. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven L. Eye; brother, Charles Eye; and sisters, Margaret Holler, Evelyn Hammond, Jean Horton and Linda Eye. He is survived by his wife, Shelby Dellinger Eye whom he married on October 19, 1958; two sons, Jeffery A. Eye of Woodstock, John Christopher Eye and wife Shelly Cullers Eye of Woodstock; daughter, Stacy E. Ritenour and husband Daniel of Woodstock; sister, Jane Rosenberger of Strasburg; grandchildren, Corey Eye and wife Hannah, Kathryn R. Bennett and husband Ryan, Madeline Ritenour, Benjamin Ritenour, Allison Eye, Nathan Eye, Caroline Eye and Lauren Eye and great granddaughter, Amelia Eye. Pallbearers will be Corey Eye, Benjamin Ritenour, Nathan Eye, Ryan Bennett, Stewart Hammond and Eric Hammond. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
