The staff at Heishman Funeral Home Inc. sends condolences to the family of Mickey Nelson Thompson. Mickey Nelson Thompson, 79, of Quicksburg, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home. At his request there will not be a service. The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Mickey and Judy. Mr. Thompson was born May 16, 1942, in Edinburg, son of the late Charles Thompson and Jean Artz Thompson. He served in the United States Army from 1964-1966. He was employed many years at Aileen in Woodstock and Edinburg, William A. Hazel, Inc. and Shen-Paco Industries, Inc. He was a member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, Mt. Jackson Moose Lodge #979 and American Legion Post #199. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Reid. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Elaine Williams Thompson; daughter, Mickie D. Duncan and husband, Travis of Mt. Jackson; two brothers, Allen Thompson (Claire), and Neil Thompson; two sisters, Sharon Wilkerson (Ray) and Polly Ann Miller (Tommy); two granddaughters, Hannah and Avery Duncan and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite #405, Winchester, VA. 22601 or Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, 3112 Moreland Gap Rd., New Market, VA 22844. Mickey enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching the Nationals play baseball, talking baseball and watching UVA basketball. His daughter Mickie “Peach” and granddaughters, Hannah and Avery were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed!
