Patricia Ann Hottle Hodges

Surrounded by family and adored caregivers, Patricia Ann (Hottle) Hodges, age 86, passed away peacefully at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home on February 6, 2026. Patricia was born on January 27, 1940, to the late William "Emmett" and Katherine Hottle. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Robert Hottle; and her son, James "Kelly" Hodges. She is survived by her beloved family: her husband of 68 years, Eddie Hodges of Edinburg, VA; her daughters, Leslie Langford (Gary Miller) of Edinburg, VA, and Laura Hodges of Richmond, VA; her son, Jonathan E. Hodges, and wife Holly of Maurertown, VA; a half-sister, Terry Kathleen; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Eastep (Jim) and Wanda Stoneburner (Jake); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Patricia’s greatest joys were her roles as a wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and was particularly known for her beautiful quilts. Above all, she will be remembered for her enormous love for animals and her heart for rescue work. She also cherished her time with "The Sassy Lassies," a special group of friends who enjoyed tea parties, adventures, and trips together. On August 31, 1957, she married the love of her life, Eddie Hodges. Their 68 years of marriage served as a beautiful testament to love and devotion. One of her favorite professional roles was serving as a teacher’s aide at W.W. Robinson Elementary. During lambing season, she would bring her orphaned, bottle-fed lambs into the classroom to ensure they were fed every four hours, turning her care for them into a unique teaching opportunity for the children. After raising her children, Patricia pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Shenandoah College and Conservatory at age 44, proving that it is never too late to learn something new. Throughout her nursing career, she was a respected mentor, charge nurse, and caregiver at SMH in Obstetrics, WMC in the nursery, Winchester Rehab, Life Care, and Skyline Terrace. She left a lasting impression of kindness on every patient and colleague she encountered. Patricia will be remembered for her love of life, her kindness, and her ability to make a friend out of any stranger. The world was a better place with her in it, and she will be deeply missed. Her family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Skyline Terrace for the exceptional care and genuine devotion to our Pat. They loved her as family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Valley Funeral Service (14116 S. Middle Rd, Edinburg, VA 22824) on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia's honor to the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter (268 Landfill Road, Edinburg, VA 22824) or Furry Friends Rescue (486 N. Main St, Woodstock, VA 22664).
